Signs That Your Home Is Invaded by Pests

submitted on 18 March 2020
You may notice some weird things happening inside your home. Small things like socks and underwear have begun disappearing. Certain parts of the house start changing in appearance probably ageing faster than they should. Your ceilings have begun falling down, and you experience sleepless nights due to weird noises. These may seem like minor problems in the beginning, but it does not mean that you have to continue neglecting them. You should be proactive by doing a routine inspection. You might be surprised to discover that certain pests have slowly been invading your home. Here are some signs that you need to be aware of before its too late.

Faecal matter
Do you see small black or brown particles all-around your home no matter how often you clean the floors and surface? You may easily mistake them for food crumbs, but if you take a closer look, you will realise that they are faecal matter or droppings from either rats, roaches or other types of pests that could be lurking in the corners of your home. You better clean them up and get in touch with pest control companies in your area. It would be best to book an appointment so a professional exterminator can help you out.

Pieces of wood are being chewed
You might want to take a closer look at the base of your doors, wooden walls and even your built-in cabinets. If you notice pieces of wood being chewed upon there is a big possibility that there are lots of mice inside your home. Rodents are known to multiply fast, and they can cause significant damage to your property and personal belongings. The worst is they can chew electrical cables and burn down your house. You can purchase some baits that are commercially available to help eradicate the problem.

Red and itchy patches on your skin
If you have been sleeping uncomfortably in your bed because something is biting you, you should check for the presence of bed bugs. They thrive in mattresses, blankets, pillows, curtains and stuffed toys. Female species are capable of laying thousands of eggs in their lifetime so they can quickly multiply inside your household and feed on both human and animal blood.

Breeding ground
Pests often love to spend time in dark and damp places where human beings would not easily find them. These places could be your attic, basement, garage and storage rooms. Look out for signs that they have been staying in your house for quite some time now. It could be torn pieces of clothes, shredded paper and plastic, excessive droppings, a pungent smell of urine or odour of rotting flesh. It is essential to look very well because nesting grounds are often tricky to discover.

Lastly, do not forget to check for any unusual holes in the wall. These could be possible entry and exit points for rodents. They usually try to steal some food and bring it inside their nest.
