4 Ways to Keep Your Holiday Memories Alive

submitted on 23 October 2022
For many people, a holiday is something they work hard for. They save money to pay for it, they accrue holiday time at work, and they often spend a fair amount of time planning and making bookings. And for all the time and energy that goes into a holiday, holidays often feel like they finish far too quickly. So how do you keep your holiday memories alive after you return home? How can you keep the feelings you had going, and the joy and relaxation?

We’ve got some simple tips that can help keep the holiday memories going.

Start Travel Journalling While on Holiday

How often have you thought back on a holiday and wished you could remember more details? That is exactly what travel journalling allows you to do, as it's meant to be used while on holiday. At the end of each day, you can write a short entry about what you did, saw, ate, visited, and felt. Some people even prefer to take the journal on the go with them, so they can make point-form notes as they feel it.

This is the kind of memory that can be enjoyed years, even decades after the holiday.

Display Souvenirs and Collectible Pieces

One popular way to keep your holiday memories alive is to make it a habit to purchase one or two items on each trip that can be displayed. Many people choose items that would be classified as collectable pieces such as vases, plates, mugs, a specific type of statue, postcards and so forth. The more you travel, the more your holiday décor collection will grow.

What makes this tip so fun is that your collection will be unique, no one else will have that same grouping of items. Looking at each collectable will take you right back to when you purchased it.

Turn Your Photos Into a Personalised Calendar

Another fun way to keep the memories alive is to gather all your favourite photos of your holiday and turn them into a personalised calendar. Often you can choose from a variety of templates some of which feature a photo collage each month. This would allow you to display a lot of memories, and give you something fun to enjoy for a full year. It may even become part of your holiday routine when you return home, you make a new calendar for each trip.

Frame Those Memories and Create a Photo Wall

And speaking of photos, you don’t have to stop at a photo calendar; you can also use your most interesting, beautiful and special pictures to create a decorative photo wall. Choose photos that complement your existing décor and colour palette so it looks purposeful. When you frame photos, it also gives you the flexibility to swap them out any time you choose.

The Holiday Vibe Doesn’t Have to End When You Get Home

Thanks to all of these tips, there’s no reason the holiday vibe has to end when you get home. These will help keep your memories alive and ensure you remember even the smallest details.
