3 Reasons Why Renting Construction Machinery Is Better Than Buying It

submitted on 19 October 2017
The rental of construction machinery and equipment has become a growing trend these days, primarily due to its cost-effectiveness and mitigation of risk in a market that’s unpredictable. From individual consumers to full-time contractors, the need for these machines and cost of ownership have become the two most contributing factors to how essential renting has become in this business. It serves as a far more feasible alternative to purchasing construction equipment outright and cuts costs that may potentially end up in a financial loss.

1. Costs
For many businesses, success can often come down to cost and price. Not unlike consumers, a company can, and will, also be in need of products and services that allow it to make its business much more efficient and effective, and in turn thrive. While spending money can generate income, the amount of expenditure plays a huge role in it. Having to shoulder the initial price of purchase for construction equipment can prove to be a huge financial blow, especially if future expenditure on service, maintenance and storage of the machinery is also taken into account.

The expenditure alone on the machines and the servicing required to ensure their optimal use can be detrimental enough that a company risks any profit on the project at hand. By renting construction equipment from plant hire businesses, a company can avoid a potentially heavy financial loss.

2. Depreciation
All products have their own respective lifespans. It is a sad but unavoidable fact of life. Technology keeps on developing at an alarming rate. Construction equipment and machinery aren’t exempt from such development. While the technology integrated into them is certainly an asset, it does render previous models somewhat ineffective. Because of this, the depreciation of the value for older variants of the machines becomes a very real concern. Renting instead of purchasing saves the trouble of having to resell machines at a loss instead of a profit. This is crucial in the long-term as this could significantly affect the financial situation of any business negatively.

3. Transportation
Part of an economical way to sustain a business and generate profit for a company is to ensure that productivity isn’t impeded or hampered in any way. Having to deal with the transportation of heavy machinery can stretch valuable resources that may cause problems with other projects. By renting the equipment as opposed to owning it, the task of transportation and logistics can be left to the plant hire business whose services have been hired.

These are just a few reasons why it’s often better to rent heavy construction equipment and machinery from another company. It is an effective solution if a company doesn’t necessarily have the means to purchase such equipment.
