Simple Tips to Get Rid of Some of Your Clothes

submitted on 24 February 2020
As you start to look at your closet, you realise that it’s too messy. You can hardly find your favourite clothes since they got buried somewhere in your closet. You also kept buying new clothes even if there’s no more space left in your closet. The first thing you need to do is to get rid of some of these clothes to easily organise what you need. These tips are useful as you determine how to get rid of your clothes.

Identify the ones you can no longer wear
If you have ripped, stained or faded clothes, you have to let them go. There’s no point in keeping them in the closet if you won’t use them. Some of them have been with you for a long time, and you shouldn’t feel bad throwing them away.

Take away seasonal clothes
Some of your clothes are only useful for a specific time during the year. If they’re out of season, you need to remove them from your closet. You won’t use these clothes until that season is back. You can keep them in a different storage area.

Remove the clothes that don’t fit
It might be time for you to finally accept that some of your clothes no longer fit. They’re already too small for you. It’s difficult to reconcile with the idea that you already got bigger over the years and some of these clothes will never fit you again. You can motivate yourself to lose weight and wear those sizes again, but in the meantime, you have to take them out of the closet.

Stop buying new clothes
Your shopping addiction has to stop. Given how easy it is for you to shop online, you might keep buying what you want. Your goal is to get rid of the clothes you no longer need. Don’t keep on buying new ones since you will find it even more difficult to store them. You can consider buying new clothes only when you already let go of old clothes.

Remove all items first
It’s easier for you to decide which clothes to let go of by taking all of them out at once. You can also organise the ones that you intend to return to the closet. Sometimes, when the closet is messy, you feel lazy about organising it. You need a system to keep the clothes in order, and it starts by removing all of them from the closet.

Once you finish doing all these things, you will find it a lot easier to organise your closet. You can also consider buying made to measure wardrobes so that you can have everything that you want where you want it. You can decide the size, style, and the number of panels. You can also add drawers and other things that you need to easily store your clothes. It might take time to get things in order, but you need to do it so finding your clothes won't be so difficult anymore.
