Shower Cabin or Shower Cubicle – Is There a Difference?submitted on 15 April 2016
If you’re about to embark on modernizing your bathroom you might be considering replacing your existing shower and wondering what options are available in terms of upgrades. One of the most popular choices nowadays is the stand alone shower cabin or cubicle. Is there any difference between them? The simple answer is, apart from the name – NO.
Basically, both of these contemporary shower options differ from conventional plumbed-in showers or showers which work from the mixer tap attached to your bath, as well as the long time popular instantaneous electric shower – in that shower cabins and shower cubicles are constructed as a sealed unit. Each shower has its own enclosure - including a top – which clearly offers various benefits:-- Steam does not escape from the shower into the rest of the bathroom
- Walls and ceilings are not subjected to moisture in the same way as with a conventional shower which is not enclosed.
- Cleaning is much easier as modern shower cabins and cubicles are made from easy-clean materials.
- Mirrors do not become steamed up as the steam is contained within the enclosure.
- What’s more – many shower cabins and shower cubicles available nowadays are featured-packed units which offer a whole new level of showering experience. How would you fancy listening to your favourite tunes while showering? How about some relaxing aromatherapy? And if you really want to use your shower to unwind – there’s always the option of mood lighting as well.
And these are just some of the superb features included in many shower cabins and enclosures – you can also opt for additional features such as hydro-massage jets, which direct jets of water into the shower – and you can even adjust these to make sure that your body is gently massaged in all the important places. A tremendous way to deal with general fatigue after a long day at work, soothe muscle aches and pains after a strenuous workout, or just to revitalize yourself any time of day.
Is installation complicated?
No, quite the opposite; clearly you’ll have to make sure to provide plumbing and electricity supplies in the correct location in order to accommodate the shower unit – but apart from that there are no extensive installation requirements and the majority of shower cubicles and cabins come pretty much preassembled – typical installation time once it’s located in your bathroom is around 20 minutes – so you could do it in a morning or afternoon at the weekend without too much fuss.
Modern shower cabins offer a wealth of practical benefits and advantages over traditional showers, especially where available space and ease of installation are considerations. Compact, convenient and completely enclosed – your showering experience will never be the same again.
